Frequently Asked Questions

How much will this cost me? Nothing. Not a single dollar will come out of your pocket and we won’t be asking for sensitive payment information either. We will deal directly with the ICD to handle all tuition related expenses.

What do I need to provide? All you will need is a personal computer (3-5 years old or less), a broadband Internet connection and a willingness to learn. In some cases, you will also be able to use the technology resources at your local ICD office.

How many classes can I take? Your union benefits pre-approve you to take up to 4 classes, per year, without any additional out-of-pocket expense. If you wish to take more classes than the allotted amount, we have great discounts for all USW members should you choose to do so. If we do not offer it, we have partnerships with other educational institutions that may be able to help.

What if my schedule changes? In addition to offering live lectures twice times per week, we also offer recorded lectures and custom class times for those workers on different shifts.

For example: Our standard live virtual classes are typically held 2 days per week from 5:30pm – 9:15pm CST. If you need more flexibility in class scheduling due to work commitments, we are able to offer other class times upon request.

Our goal at ABTU is to make sure that you get the courses you need, when you need them, at the time you need them.
